1. Pick a trigger
A hotkey, a schedule, an app starting, a headset connecting, a file arriving, your PC waking up.
2. Add steps
Open apps and wait until they're ready, arrange windows, switch audio, move files, talk to OBS.
3. Let it run
KeyRoutines waits quietly in the tray. Run history shows exactly what each step did.
Blocks people start with
All 228 blocksOpen app
Open app starts a program, a Store app, a shortcut or a game from your library. It is the first step of most setup routines, from a morning work session to a full streaming setup.
Apply layout
Apply layout puts several windows on their monitors in one step, and can open apps that aren't running yet. It's the step behind "one key and my whole workspace is set up".
Set default audio device
Set default audio device makes a playback or recording device the one Windows uses. People run it to move sound to a headset when gaming or a call starts, and back to speakers afterwards.
Hotkey
Hotkey starts a routine when you press a keyboard shortcut or mouse button. It's the most common way to run a routine, from a single app launcher key to a whole streaming setup on one combination.
Device connected
Device connected starts a routine when a USB device or a paired Bluetooth device connects. Name one device, or leave the name empty to react to any.
Everything it automates
Safe around games
While a game with anti-cheat runs, game-safe mode turns off keys, clicks, overlays and screen reading near it. Background keys work with desktop apps like OBS, Discord and your browser, not with games.
Routine Library
Every shared routine is checked and reviewed before it's public, and installs switched off, showing exactly what it will do before it can run.

Questions people ask
- What is KeyRoutines?
- KeyRoutines is a Windows 11 app that runs routines you build from blocks: triggers, steps, conditions, loops and modes. Free from the Microsoft Store, with a one-time $29.99 Pro upgrade.
- Do I need to write code?
- No. You build a routine by adding blocks to a step list and picking apps, windows, devices and folders from lists. Scripts are there for people who want them (Pro), but no routine needs them.
- Does KeyRoutines work in games?
- KeyRoutines sets up everything around your games: launchers, voice chat, OBS, audio and window layouts. It never sends keys or clicks into a game, and game-safe mode turns off anything that could look like automation while an anti-cheat game runs. Background keys work for desktop apps, not games.
- Is it free?
- Yes. KeyRoutines is free in the Microsoft Store. Pro is an optional one-time $29.99 upgrade for 2 PCs.
- Does it send my data anywhere?
- No. Your routines stay on your PC, and KeyRoutines doesn't send your routines, keystrokes, window titles or files anywhere. Sharing a routine to the Library is something you choose to do.
- Which Windows versions does it support?
- Windows 11, and Windows 10 version 2004 or later, on x64 and Arm64 PCs.
Free. Quiet in the tray. Yours.
KeyRoutines uses almost no memory or CPU while it waits. Get it from the Microsoft Store, and add Pro whenever you want more.
